If you devote hours of your finite life to reading my book, you are entitled to your opinion of it. I was a merciless TV reviewer in my youth (even got paid for it!) so every time I get a truly scathing review I think, well, that's kharma for you.
And then I go to goodreads and read one star reviews of Jane Eyre.
Because Jane Eyre is my favorite book. It gives me vivid, specific feelings that are extremely hard to capture. It's romantic and gothic and grounded and genre. It's cozy and creepy and funny. All my favorite things.
But some people do not agree.
This is my way of reminding myself that tastes simply differ. As my mom likes to say, "That's why there's chocolate, strawberry and vanilla." You can't be everybody's favorite flavor.
Hell, my mom can't even eat ice cream (lactose intolerant.)
