NOT QUITE NAILING IT

broken image

Revising a draft of something new for what is hopefully the last time.

I can tell when I need to revisit a section because it will feel like "just words."

"Who wants to just read all these words?!" I will think, "This is very wordy." Then some defensive part of me goes: "Well, the WHOLE BOOK is words!!"

Buuuuut...the good parts of the book will register as something else in the brain, it will mesmerize the reader and produce images and feeling. If you are very aware you are looking at a line of words then they are the wrong ones.

I have not quite nailed it.
