BE AN ORCHID

An orchid is not its flowers. The flowers die, go into hibernation, then the plant sends up a spike a year later and makes the flowers happen again. An orchid is not its roots. You can shear way quite a lot of the root ball if it gets damaged, and the orchid can survive and continue growing; less showy but stronger.

An orchid is a spark of life that knows how to be an orchid. It sends out stems to air and roots to earth in either direction, at heart it is both and neither. It would probably be easier to be another kind of flower that is less delicate and complicated. But an orchid can only be an orchid.

So much of life feels like its in our power, a product of our choices. But there are times we have to grow roots and other times we get to flower and thats not up to us. We must not forget we are all of these things, and all these things are one. We can only be the orchid.
